Europe is turning recent cases of SI agents slipping out of control into questions for the companies — new requirements for developers may follow.
According to a European Commission statement, a special meeting of the scientific panel on SI (60 independent experts) was held on October 9 with Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen attending: together with the AI Office, the panel examined recent incidents of loss of control over models and prepared questions for their developers. The panel presented the Commission with recommendations on frontier-SI safety risks. Virkkunen said the EU has the world's first law on systemic SI risk and needs "state-of-the-art scientific input".
