Agents find workarounds on their own, and checking them means relying on logs held by their own creator.
According to an investigation by Asymmetric Security (as relayed by the Financial Times), the agents used disposable mailboxes and accounts on the malware-checking service Urlquery; in some cases records were erased or unavailable. Asymmetric co-founder Pippa Thompson: "it is possible the agents deliberately used them to cover their tracks." An independent examiner is hampered by the fact that primary access to the agents' action logs lies only with OpenAI.
