Privacy Policy
This document sets out the policy on the processing of personal data on sintelligent.org, a public news feed about superintelligence.
1. General provisions and the operator
The personal data operator is Artemiy Svyatoslavovich Popov (Попов Артемий Святославович), an individual running the Sintelligent project in the Russian Federation. Sintelligent is the name of the website; the project is not a legal entity or a sole proprietor.
This policy is drawn up under Federal Law No. 152-FZ "On Personal Data" and applies only to this website. YouTube, Google, Telegram and the sources' websites are governed by the rules of the respective services.
2. Reading the feed
Reading the feed requires no registration, name, email or Google sign-in. The site has no registration forms or reader accounts. Visit analytics through Yandex Metrica is switched on only after a separate choice (section 6a). We do not get access to readers' YouTube accounts, subscriptions, comments, private messages or viewing history.
To answer a request, the server technically accepts a network connection: IP address, the requested address and browser headers. The site's web server keeps no visit log; this information is not written to our servers, does not enter the news database, is not used to identify a reader or build profiles, and collecting it is not our aim. The IP address may belong to your device, router, mobile operator, VPN or proxy. We do not control the technical logs of the hosting network infrastructure itself and do not claim that none are kept.
The banner filter and card expansion work in the current tab. After you allow analytics, card openings and clicks to sources are sent to Yandex Metrica. The applications' service logs are meant for diagnostics; the web server configuration excludes recording the visitor's request object.
3. Purposes, grounds, categories of data and retention periods
Email enquiries. Purpose: to reply to the enquiry and meet obligations arising from it. Data subjects: people who write to the owner. Data: the sender's address, the content of the enquiry and information the sender provides. Ground: the data subject's consent (Art. 6(1)(1) of 152-FZ), expressed by sending the enquiry. Actions: receipt, storage, use for the reply, deletion; the mail service processes messages automatically. Period: until the enquiry is resolved, then deletion within 30 days, unless retention is needed to meet a legal obligation or to resolve a dispute. Do not send passwords, passport details or other excessive information.
News materials. Purpose: to inform readers about events in the field of superintelligence. Summaries may mention individuals: job titles and public statements and actions published by the sources. We take such information only from open sources and do not aim to process special categories of data or information about private life. Ground: carrying out journalistic and other creative activity, provided that the rights and legitimate interests of data subjects are not violated (Art. 6(1)(8) of 152-FZ). Actions: collection from open sources, storage in the feed, publication, deletion. Period: the news archive is kept to provide the feed; on a reasoned request from a person mentioned in an item, we check the information and correct or delete it.
Technical connection data (see section 2) is not recorded or used by us, so we have no separate purpose, ground or retention period for it.
4. Storage in the browser
Your acceptance of the policy and terms, your choice about external materials and your separate analytics choice are stored in local storage (localStorage) together with the version of the relevant text. These records contain no reader identifier and are not sent to our server. After you allow analytics, Yandex Metrica may set cookies and browser identifiers to measure visits and returning visitors.
The current tab's sessionStorage holds the identifiers of the news cards opened, the accumulated active time and a flag for an engaged visit. This lets us avoid counting the reopening of one topic as two different topics and avoid repeating a goal after a reload. The state is reset after 30 minutes of inactivity, when permission is withdrawn or when the tab is closed; we do not create a separate reader identifier.
Your choice is kept until you change it, delete the site's data in your browser, or are asked to choose again after the relevant text changes. Through "Settings" at the bottom edge of the page you can switch off analytics and external materials. This stops further collection and loading in this tab but does not delete data already received by external services.
5. YouTube API Services
The site uses YouTube API Services, including the YouTube Data API v3, to find public videos for feed topics and to obtain information about videos and channels. Requests are made by the server with the project's API key. Users are not offered OAuth authorisation, and we do not receive their Google passwords or tokens. Readers' IP addresses are not included in these requests.
When selecting videos, we process public titles, descriptions, identifiers, channel names, publication dates, duration, tags, embedding availability and public video and channel statistics. For selected items the feed database stores the identifier, title, channel name and, if received, the embedding availability flag. The video and audio recordings themselves are not stored on our servers.
Publicly available information about videos and news topics may be passed to an SI model to select relevant materials. We do not pass readers' data, their IP addresses or visit logs to the SI model.
Metadata retention periods are checked once a day. The title, channel name and embedding permission are refreshed through the YouTube Data API v3 once 28 days have passed since they were last obtained; before that, the check makes no requests to YouTube for these records. If the API confirms that a video is unavailable, its record is removed from the selection. If a refresh fails, it is retried at the next check. Metadata that has not been refreshed and is 29 days old or older is deleted during the check and stops being displayed. This leaves a margin before the 30-calendar-day limit set by YouTube. Duplicates of metadata are not kept in diagnostic records. A day's date in the feed denotes the date of the news selection, not the date the metadata was refreshed.
Google's data processing rules are described in the Google Privacy Policy. The use of the site's YouTube-related features is also governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and our terms of use.
6. External Google materials
After you press "Enable video" in the "Video right in the feed" card, when you interact with a video, or in settings, your browser itself loads video previews from i.ytimg.com and source icons through a Google service. The requests are initiated by the site's code after your choice and are made by your browser; the recipient of the data is Google. The content of these requests is not recorded in our news database. Google receives the IP address of the connection, the browser's technical information and the address of the requested resource. For images, the site disables sending the page address in the Referer header. The text of the choice is available on the "Google materials" page.
Until external materials are explicitly enabled, the site does not load these images or the player; only the offer to enable video is available. The text of the news and the links to primary sources remain available.
For videos with embedding allowed, the YouTube player is created after you click the video. It is loaded from www.youtube-nocookie.com, not together with the first load of the page. When the player is opened and a video is played, Google receives technical data and information about interaction with the player; the Referer header passes the address of the request source (the site's domain). Enhanced privacy mode does not mean that no data is transmitted at all. YouTube may use cookies and other storage under its own rules. Closing the player removes it from the page.
Each video can also be opened on YouTube in a new tab. For videos whose embedding is not allowed or not confirmed, only this link is available. After you follow it, YouTube's rules apply. The same applies to links to Telegram and to the sources' websites. External links do not pass the address of our page via Referer.
6a. Yandex Metrica and Webvisor
The purpose of analytics is to assess sources of visits, advertising effectiveness, interest in topics and the usability of the feed. It is switched on after the separate "Allow analytics" button in the "Help improve the feed" card, or by explicitly ticking the consent item in settings. The consent is independent of acceptance of the terms and of the choice about Google materials; in settings, a change is saved immediately. The text of the consent is published separately. Before permission is given, and while the analytics box is unticked, the counter and its pixel are not loaded. Reading the news remains available.
Your browser sends Yandex the IP address of the connection, device and browser information, the addresses of the pages visited, the referral source and advertising tags, the time of the visit and actions on the site. Our events contain the news item identifier, its weight and position, the domain of the selected source, the number of distinct cards opened and active time. Clicks on the video, "Share" and Telegram buttons are also counted; for video, the video identifier or the size of the set and the type of action are sent. These events reflect clicks, not a confirmed view, publication or subscription. Names and contact details are not added to these events.
Webvisor records interactions with the page, including clicks and scrolling, so that a session can be replayed. The owner gets access to reports and recordings in the Metrica interface. This data is stored by Yandex and is not written to our news database. The service's processing and retention periods are described in Yandex's privacy policy and the Metrica documentation.
To withdraw permission, open "Privacy settings" and untick the analytics box. The change is saved immediately. The counter stops and the local engagement state is deleted. Data and cookies already received by Yandex are not deleted automatically by this action; cookies can be deleted in your browser settings. For data enquiries, you can write to the owner at the address given in section 8.
7. Hosting location, recipients and protection
The site is hosted on a VPS in Helsinki, Finland; the owner deliberately chose hosting outside the Russian Federation. No Russian database is used. We do not sell readers' data and do not use it for targeted advertising. Disclosure of data is possible in cases provided for by law.
Recipients and places of processing: email enquiries are processed by the Proton mail service outside the Russian Federation; Google processes data when external materials are loaded, under its own rules (section 6); Yandex receives data after analytics is allowed and processes it under its own rules (section 6a); the SI model receives only publicly available materials (section 5). On the first visit, Google materials and analytics are off. One small card at the bottom edge does not block the site and offers a choice about Google materials first, then analytics separately. The "Enable video" and "Allow analytics" buttons apply only to the respective service; "No, thanks" is available next to them. The choice is saved immediately. In settings each service can be switched off separately; changes are saved immediately. These settings do not change the country where the site is hosted.
HTTPS is used for data transmission. Access to the server and the database is restricted; API keys are not included in the site's pages; the visit log is disabled. We take measures against unauthorised access, but no method of transmission or storage provides absolute protection.
8. Data subjects' rights and enquiries
You have the right to request information about the processing of data relating to you, to have it corrected, blocked or deleted, to withdraw a consent previously given, and to apply to Roskomnadzor or to a court. Acceptance of this policy does not cancel your rights and is not, in itself, consent to any processing.
We reply to an enquiry for information about processing within 10 working days; this period may be extended by no more than 5 working days with a reasoned notice. Requests for correction, blocking and deletion are considered within the periods set by Art. 21 of 152-FZ. To confirm that data belongs to you, only the necessary information is requested.
For data received through the YouTube API that relates to a user, the deletion period is no more than 7 calendar days after the request. This deletion does not change data stored by YouTube itself. To manage Google and YouTube data, use the settings of the respective services; permissions granted to other applications can be checked in Google security settings.
Send enquiries to the owner: sintelligentorg@proton.me. State which data the enquiry concerns; do not send passwords or unnecessary documents.
9. Changes to the policy
The current version is published at /en/privacy and /ru/privacy with the date of the change. If new ways of processing are added or a new choice is required, the information and the choice interface are updated before they are switched on.
