In Russia, separate reserve data centers are being discussed in case the main ones fail.
According to Vedomosti (RBC quotes the same words; its text is paywalled), at the RBC Tech forum a Rostelecom deputy head, Valery Ermakov, spoke of a need for backup sites to restore digital services quickly in emergencies, calling them "doomsday data centers". In his words, the nature of threats has changed (drones, digital-platform failures), and there is a need to respond faster rather than focus only on economic efficiency. The proposal came against the backdrop of recent reports of damage to Yandex and Sberbank data centers.
