iOS 27.2 marks Image Playground images with Google's SynthID watermark

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Published in SI: . Updated: .

Pictures made on an iPhone get a hidden mark that can be used to tell them from real photographs.

The mark works in the Image Playground generator and in SI photo editing features. The SynthID detector recognizes fully generated images as well as Extend and Reframe edits; Clean Up is flagged only if a significant number of objects was removed. There is no SynthID check on the iPhone itself yet: images can be uploaded to Google's detector site, open to everyone since early October, which checks images, video and audio.
