OpenAI is again raising enormous sums ahead of going public, but the terms are not yet final.
According to CNBC, citing people familiar with the matter, the $1.25 trillion valuation does not include the new money, and the round is described as an "opportunistic" bridge to a possible IPO. OpenAI told investors it expects to collect signatures by the end of next week, but the final size is still being determined; in parallel it is discussing a commercial deal for additional computing capacity in the UAE. TechCrunch recalls that a month ago Bloomberg reported $30 billion at a $1.4 trillion valuation, that the previous round in March valued the company at $852 billion after the investment, and that OpenAI filed confidentially for an IPO in June. Terms are under negotiation and may change; OpenAI declined to comment.
