How to name the technology has become a matter of US government policy: from an order for agencies to a declared ban on the old term in documents.
President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that "in short order" the US will officially ban the technology's previous name, in both its abbreviated and spelled-out forms, "in all relevant documents, and everything else," citing its "inaccuracy." The trigger was The Wall Street Journal: Trump asked when the paper would start calling the technology SI (Super Intelligence), the name that, he said, "virtually everyone else is using, or soon will be." According to The Hill, he signed an executive order in September directing the executive branch to use SI instead of the old term, and in early October he wrote that the White House considers anyone who uses the old spelled-out term "the enemy."
