The argument over how to regulate SI has moved into election campaigns, and the sides are putting millions into it.
According to CNBC's analysis of Federal Election Commission filings through October 20, groups that favor fast SI development and lighter uniform rules (the Leading the Future network) have spent about $8 million in general-election congressional races. Groups favoring strong safety guardrails and more power for states spent about $6.9 million. In Florida's 25th district they face off directly: Think Big (linked to Leading the Future) backed Democrat Jared Moskowitz ($310,000 in the primary), while Defending Our Values spent about $857,000 supporting Republican Scott Singer and another $740,000 against one of his opponents.
