Even one of the richest tech giants is turning to the stock market for SI infrastructure: the compute race keeps getting more expensive.
Meta announced a plan to raise $95 billion: first $35 billion through underwritten public share offerings, then another $60 billion through an at-the-market program. Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom, according to Meta's statement, are interested in buying up to $5 billion of the shares. The money will go to SI infrastructure and "superintelligence," including the family of apps, the Muse SI agent and the data center business; besides equity, Meta is counting on operating cash flow, investment-grade bonds and partnerships. According to CNBC, Meta shares were down 1.6% in morning trading after the announcement; Goldman Sachs estimates SI-related capital spending in 2026-2031 at about $7.6 trillion.
