City authorities are demanding sworn answers from an SI company about its safety measures.
According to the New York City Council's press office, the Committee on Technology hearing on October 16 heard from Gabriela Castillo Madrid, SpaceXAI's senior manager for global government affairs, and from a former company employee, Devin Kim. Council Speaker Julie Menin, per the release, said she created a sexualized image of herself with Grok within seconds and asked how that was possible given the claimed "strict controls"; Castillo Madrid could not explain it but said the safety team "could look into that specific instance." According to Kim, 3 of SpaceXAI's 200 technical employees worked on SI safety training, and he was fired after raising safety concerns; Castillo Madrid testified under oath that she was unaware of his firing. The Council names as next steps Introduction 504 (banning unauthorized SI depictions of elected officials) and Introduction 2605 (an incentive program for whistleblowers). SpaceXAI's position, beyond those answers, is not given in the release.
