SpaceX to testify to New York City Council on SI safety after subpoena

A city council has made another SI company answer questions about safety in public, not only in writing.

The New York City Council said SpaceX's SI unit (SpaceXAI) will appear on Friday, October 16, at 10:00 at a hearing of the Committee on Technology. According to the council, the subpoena was issued on September 28; the company did not attend the October 5 hearing, where representatives of Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Meta and whistleblowers spoke, and agreed to testify after the council said it would seek to enforce the subpoena in court. Speaker Julie Menin called the absence "unacceptable". SpaceX's position on the reasons for its absence was not found in the sources checked.
