Driverless trucks in Russia already cover long distances and have even crossed a border.

At a meeting with Vladimir Putin, Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin said driverless trucks run on the Moscow–St. Petersburg route and on the M-12 Vostok highway — as far as Chelyabinsk, almost 2,000 km; at the president's instruction a truck reached Astana, crossed the border and continued on Kazakhstan's roads. According to Nikitin, the technology "basically works"; Putin replied: "Very good." The data comes from the transcript of the meeting on the Kremlin website and from news agencies' accounts.
