Liquid AI releases open d1 models that answer without text, in a single pass

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Published in SI: . Updated: .

For sorting and scoring you do not need a chatty model: a small, fast, open one does the job right on the device.

Liquid AI published with open weights two "decision models": d1-3B (3 billion parameters, text and images) and the experimental d1-omni-600M (600 million, text with an image or audio). Such models do not generate tokens but return a structured decision, such as a classification, score or choice, in one forward pass. According to Liquid AI, d1-3B scores 48.57 on the Decision Index, ahead of all models with 4 and 9 billion parameters, has a mean score of 82.9 across seven datasets, and answers in under 50 ms on every device measured; d1-omni-600M scored 78.4, beating Decider 2B (77.1) at a quarter of the size.
