SI GPT-6 Astra decrypts in six hours an 1809 Napoleon letter that stayed unreadable for 217 years

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Publication time restored from the build log. . Updated: .

SI reads what people could not read for two hundred years: old archives will start to speak.

SentinelOne engineer Carter Church used an OpenAI model to crack the cipher of a letter to General Auguste de Marmont with troop positions: it said that the Russians were moving against Austria and that the Army of Friuli numbered 80 thousand men. According to Euronews, the document contains 175 handwritten characters (a homophonic cipher). Church published the decryption, the cipher tables and reproducible scripts on September 18; Satoshi Tomokiyo of Cryptiana checked the solution and marked the entry as solved, the first full decryption in more than 200 years.
