Claude Opus 5 has also cracked an undeciphered Enigma radio message: seven archive puzzles remain

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Publication time restored from the build log. . Updated: .

What cryptographers could not read for decades, models from different companies are now cracking one after another. Historical archives are opening up anew.

After GPT-6 Astra read a 1941 intercept, cybersecurity lead Jack Willis used Claude Opus 5 to decipher another message from the CryptoCellar archive; the key was a signature with an officer's name. Both decryptions were verified by the archive's keeper, retired engineer Frode Weierud. Seven messages remain undeciphered in the database, plus one more whose text is known but whose key is not.
