Amodei is mocked on Saturday Night Live: "SI is the devil, and I am its creator"

The head of an SI lab has become a character on America's biggest comedy show, and the debate over the pace of SI has finally entered popular culture.

In the season premiere, in the Weekend Update segment, Jane Wickline played the Anthropic head in a wig and with bouts of Gollum-like arguing with her dark side: "We do not endorse what we are doing," "SI is not a weapon, it's a tool. A tool for making weapons," "I urge you to urge me to stop." The sketch also poked fun at promises of SI's benefits: the character rated the chances of beating cancer within a decade as modest.
