Anthropic signs a $35 billion cloud contract with Lambda for a Texas data center

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Publication time restored from the build log. . Updated: .

Demand for SI compute is so great that former bitcoin miners are turning into the foundation for the largest SI labs, and there will be more capacity for the next models.

Anthropic will buy $35 billion of compute from the Nvidia-backed company Lambda, which will place Nvidia chips at the Beacon Point campus of the mining company Hut 8 in Texas. The structure has three layers: Nvidia leases the site from Hut 8 under two 15-year agreements for 704 MW worth $19.6 billion, Lambda installs the hardware, and Anthropic pays for compute. The site could grow to 1 GW; Hut 8's contracted revenue is 260 times its quarterly revenue.
