Kalashnikov considers adding SI to assault rifles

The weapons maker is moving SI from auxiliary systems and data analysis toward possible functions in the firearm itself, but this remains an announced direction rather than a finished product.
CEO Alan Lushnikov told journalists that SI is already used in the company's developments to control automated systems and process data, and that its scope will expand. The technology is not yet used directly in assault rifles; the company is considering that possibility for the future.
