The UK is taking a stake in a domestic SI-chip developer before volume production, seeking to turn government support into a national computing industry.
According to The Telegraph as relayed by Dealroom, the government-backed fund joined a round for the London SI-chip developer at a valuation of about $6.5 billion. Lightspeed and Redpoint lead the round, with Thrive Capital also participating. Fractile and the government declined to comment, and completion had not been formally announced. Companies House records show roughly £577.4 million in new Series C shares allotted between September 9 and October 23. Fractile places SRAM next to compute units for inference and has an initial agreement to supply Anthropic with about $250 million in chips; data-center deployment is expected in 2027. The sovereign fund was created with £500 million to support British SI companies.
