DeepSeek releases a research prototype of an always-on GitHub agent

The agent moves beyond a single chat: it can preserve context across platforms and handle several tasks in parallel while a person does something else.

DeepSeek published dsh-superagent, a research prototype for DeepSeek Harness, under the MIT license. The agent monitors a GitHub repository and, when connected, Feishu, handles each task in a separate session and working directory, and returns the result to the original conversation, for example as a pull request. It acts at an authorized user's request or under rules predefined by the team, and contacts a person when a decision is needed or a useful result is ready. In the architecture described by the team, Router distributes events and maintains shared context, while several Workers execute tasks in parallel. Event subscriptions allow work on comments to a specific PR to continue without repeated routing, and a separate Watchdog is intended to detect failures and unproductive loops. In a simulation with about 300 messages and 20 work requests, median completion time was 12.4 minutes and the 95th percentile was 15.7 minutes; the compared single-session setup reached 29.5 minutes at the 95th percentile. Each configuration was tested five times. DeepSeek explicitly calls the code a research prototype rather than an official product: the public version differs from the internal one, and some of the capabilities described are future development work.
