HSE and partners improve microorganism classification accuracy to 97.5%

A commercially available microscope has gained an open SI module that classifies bacteria by biologically meaningful features and is preparing for testing outside the original laboratory.
According to 21mm.ru, the microscope's open module uses the Microscopy-Aware Attention mechanism, which analyzes an object's shape, transparency and texture and is not tied to one model architecture. More than 100 thousand bacterial microscopy slides with different magnification, lighting and staining were prepared for training. The team plans to test the system in other laboratories and on other equipment.
