Spotify plans paid SI remixes of licensed songs in early 2027

Spotify is testing a model in which fans create remixes legally while the original artists retain consent, attribution and revenue.
According to the Financial Times, the Premium add-on could cost $4–5 per month, with an announcement possible around the Grammy Awards in February. Versions can be created only for songs by artists who have explicitly agreed to participate; they will receive a share of royalties, and remix streams will count toward the original songs' charts. Agreements are already in place with Universal, Merlin, Kobalt and Believe, while talks with Sony Music and Warner Music continue.
