Neuralink lets study participant invoke Grok with a mental command and make iPhone calls through an implant

The brain-computer interface linked the intention to speak with ordinary calls, text and an SI agent, expanding communication options for a person with a severe speech impairment.

In the VOICE study, the N1 system recognizes activity associated with the intention to speak: the phrase "Hey Neuralink" launches the Grok agent, while the Bloom app transmits synthesized speech into a phone call. The algorithm also detects the start and end of speech activity on its own, and text can be entered into iOS apps. The experimental features were created during a 72-hour engineering sprint at the participant's home.
