Developers of factory robots are chasing the sensitivity that assembly operations require.

According to Xiaomi's post in its community, relayed by 3DNews, the hand has 21 degrees of freedom, 26 electric drives and 1,500 tactile sensors on the palm; a mechanism with cable-tension regulation plays the role of tendons. For the design, the company analyzed 2,579 standard operations at 16 types of car factories and picked 1,827 for data collection. The next stage is trials in real production to check stability, autonomous operation and integration into processes.
