Investment in SI has become a noticeable part of growth in the US economy.

According to preliminary data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, real GDP grew 3.4% at an annual rate in July–September, after 2.2% in the second quarter and 2.5% in the first — the fastest growth since the third quarter of 2025, when it was 3.9%. Consumer spending rose 3.8%, and nonresidential business investment rose 12.7%, the biggest quarterly jump since the start of 2024. The Hill ties the growth to the continuing surge in SI investment. The PCE price index in September was 3.6% higher than a year earlier. According to The Korea Times, economists believe that, together with accelerating inflation, the data strengthen the case for a Federal Reserve rate hike in December.
