Teledroid experiment being prepared on the ISS: a humanoid robot to be driven by cosmonauts copying their movements

The Russian experiment tests whether a robot can work in space in place of a person, operated from on board.

According to iXBT, a Roscosmos project is testing a humanoid, remotely operated robot: cosmonauts pass their movements to it through a motion-copying device — the operator's workstation — and the robot can carry out some operations autonomously. Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina are preparing the equipment on the station; the set includes the motion-copying device, a computing module, the robot itself and an external camera, and part of the hardware was delivered in September on the Progress MS-35 cargo ship. Test stages: checking control of a virtual model, testing the robot inside the station, testing on the outer surface, and practicing operations with tools and equipment in remote and autonomous modes.
