Axiom Math releases the first fully computer-checked proof of the classification of finite simple groups: 43.1 million lines of Lean in 24 days

Checking one of the longest mathematical proofs can now be handed to a computer, and SI agents completed that work in a matter of weeks.
According to Axiom Math, the original proof runs to about 15,000 pages in more than 500 articles by roughly 100 mathematicians and is considered the longest proof in the history of mathematics. Over 24 days, the company's engineers and mathematicians directed swarms of dozens of SI agents; the result is about 43.1 million lines of code in the Lean proof assistant, which incorporates about 1.2 million lines from the Qiuzhen-CFSG project. The authors say 34 noteworthy deviations from the published text had to be resolved in the formalization. The proof formalized is the "first generation" one: Axiom writes that the "second generation" proof remains incomplete. The publication identifies the final theorem and how to check the development, so readers can inspect what was established.
