A celebrity's face in an ad no longer proves she is real, so it is more important to check the store.
The Interior Ministry's cybercrime department said fraudsters use images and videos of famous people created by neural networks to attract buyers to fake online stores. They offer electronics at discounts, demand full prepayment and promise delivery in about a month, then cite customs problems and do not return the money. The ministry advises checking reviews on independent platforms, avoiding full prepayment and choosing cash on delivery or payment services with buyer protection.
