Telecom operators are looking for separate energy sources for data centers that do not depend on city grids.
Rostelecom president Mikhail Oseevsky said at SOC Forum that data centers in Russia will consume less energy. The source of electricity, he said, will be gas generation and later compact nuclear reactors: "I really believe in it". He named two circumstances that "strongly change the paradigm": the physical security of the centers, which become targets in the event of "one conflict or another", and obtaining electricity in the required volume.
