Opera proposes the WebAI web standard for running SI models right in the browser
Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Published in SI: . Updated: .
SI in the browser can run on the computer itself, without a subscription or sending data to the cloud.
The standard lets websites and extensions run text generation, classification and relationship search in content on the device, using open models such as Gemma and, on Mac, Apple's built-in model. For now it is an early preview in Opera One, and the feature will later arrive in Opera GX and Opera Neon; it is enabled at the user's choice. According to Opera, developers will be able to add SI features without their own infrastructure or paying per request, and the data stays on the device; performance depends on the computer's power.
