IBM reported updates to the software ecosystem for the Spyre accelerator, a dataflow SI accelerator for inference designed for IBM Z and LinuxONE systems: torch-spyre, a vLLM plugin, compiler improvements and continuous integration. The goal is to let developers run familiar models and tools on an accelerator of a different class without abandoning familiar workflows; in October 2025 IBM and the PyTorch Foundation had already outlined a plan to make Spyre a first-class PyTorch backend.
