Brown University student maps the hidden labor of data workers behind SI

People work behind SI, and there is now a tool showing who they are and whom they work for.
Brown University senior Cunyan Ma, working with the university's Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination and Redesign, built an interactive map linking technology companies and intermediaries to data-labeling workers, often low-paid and in the Global South. The map combines existing databases of such workers, the author's own data and news reports on working conditions, and it is freely available online.
