Pre-election SI videos with invented confessions of real people are starting to reach the courts.
According to El Independiente, the People's Party (PP) released an SI-made video in which a synthetic Díez says she hired "thugs" to "take out of the way" judge Beatriz Biedma; the video also features the prime minister's wife Begoña Gómez and other Socialist politicians. Díez's lawyer Eva Bejarano filed a complaint with the National Court for defamation with publicity, harm to moral integrity and digital identity impersonation, and asks that the video be provisionally removed from all PP accounts. The outlet says the video has "more than 21 million" views and the case has been sent to judge Santiago Pedraz. Díez says that because of the video she and her daughters had to isolate at home. Spain's election is set for November 29. The PP's position was not found in the sources checked.
