The dispute over training SI on protected music has reached the biggest names; a court ruling will decide what data models can be trained on.

The lawsuit, filed on Friday, October 23 and first reported by Billboard, was brought by a unit of Authentic Brands Group and the Presley family. They allege that Anthropic infringed the copyrights in 274 songs, including Can't Help Falling in Love, A Little Less Conversation and Don't Be Cruel. The plaintiffs' lead attorney Richard Busch said the company built its business on copyright infringement "at a scale never seen before." Billboard calls it the highest-profile suit filed on behalf of an individual musician; music companies such as Universal Music Group have already sued SI companies. Anthropic's response is not given in the materials read.
