inDrive, Pony.ai and Nvidia sign a memorandum on robotaxi tests in Astana: the pilot starts in the first half of 2027

Robotaxis are heading to a city with extreme winters: Astana will test the autopilot on ice and snow, but for now this is only an agreement on tests in 2027.
Under the scheme described by the outlets, Pony.ai will supply seventh-generation vehicles, inDrive will connect them to its app and run operations, and Nvidia will provide the computing platform and the Halos safety suite. A safety operator will ride in the car at launch; fully autonomous rides are named as the end goal. The city was chosen in part for its harsh winters: inDrive founder Arsen Tomsky, as relayed by iXBT, believes that proving the technology in such conditions will yield valuable data for regions with difficult climates. This is a memorandum of intent.
