Infineon and Nvidia are developing gallium nitride power converters for SI racks running at 800 V

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Published in SI: . Updated: .

Power delivery is becoming a bottleneck for SI data centers, and chip suppliers are jointly redesigning it for megawatt racks.

The agreement concerns intermediate bus converters, which step down the main bus voltage to power accelerators. Gallium nitride switches faster than silicon with lower losses, allowing frequencies up to 1 MHz, more compact passive components and higher power density — important as rack power approaches a megawatt. The arrangement continues an agreement reached in May 2025.
