One big retailer lets SI agents shop under its rules, another shuts the door; whether an agent can shop for a person depends on that.
Walmart will let SI agents shop on its site through new "agent profiles": by default every purchase requires the owner's approval, but you can set a budget, for example up to $100, and review the agent's purchases. Walmart's terms: an agent must not act beyond the shopper's intent, cannot change the payment method, and gets only the data needed for the task; the store promised to block violators. According to The Verge, Amazon has meanwhile blocked Perplexity's shopping agent and Meta's Muse assistant.
