Intel resumes factory construction: Fab 62 in Arizona to open in early 2028, Ohio pushed to 2030–2031

Demand for SI processors is forcing Intel to finish building factories, but the new capacity will arrive only in a few years.
According to The Next Web, Intel has begun installing equipment at the new Fab 62 plant on its Ocotillo campus in Phoenix, next to the operating Fab 52; opening is planned for early 2028. The timeline for the Ohio site has been pushed to 2030–2031, and the first major roof truss of the first building has been installed. Intel attributes the acceleration to growth in orders for data centre processors for SI, which outpace production capacity; CEO Lip-Bu Tan has said earlier that projects like Ohio will proceed only if demand is sufficient.
