ChatGPT lets users lock sensitive chats with a PIN or biometrics

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Published in SI: . Updated: .

Private conversations with SI can now be hidden from anyone who picks up your phone, but the data does not become encrypted.

According to TechCrunch, locked chats open with a four-digit PIN or through Face ID and Touch ID and sit in a separate section, outside regular history and search; unlike temporary chats, they can be returned to. OpenAI stipulates that locking does not create end-to-end encryption or a separate encrypted vault and does not change data-retention rules; locked chats have their own memory that does not affect the regular one. The feature is available on the Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans (except the healthcare version) and is unavailable for temporary, archived and group chats, chats shared by link, chats with scheduled tasks and meeting recordings; the rollout began on October 20.
