The shortage of equipment for Russian data centers has become so noticeable that the authorities are discussing lifting their own ban.
As Forbes writes, citing two sources (as relayed by Habr and CNews), the "Infrastructure and Data Centers for SI" group discussed in August-September simplifying imports of computing hardware. According to one of them, the idea is to "roll back" the May order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade that excluded server equipment and data storage systems of about two dozen brands from parallel imports, among them Samsung, SK hynix, Intel, HPE, Cisco and IBM. The other source said customers have run into difficulties buying memory. No decision to repeal the order has been announced.
