Demand for graphics cards for SI runs up against production capacity, and other buyers may be left without their share.
According to Reuters, citing two sources (as relayed by The Next Web and 3DNews), the three Chinese companies ordered more than 3 million Nvidia RTX Pro 5500 professional graphics cards worth over $35 billion; in total, Chinese buyers requested more than 6 million cards, per the same reports. The card costs about $11,400, is not covered by US export restrictions and is seen as an alternative to more powerful accelerators that are not shipped to China. Reuters' source says Nvidia warned partners they may get 5-10% of what they ordered because output is limited. The Next Web noted that it had not verified the data independently.
