MIT: E(3)-Pose, a neural network that uses the symmetry of the fetal head, helps produce clear MRI scans despite fetal movement

If the method is confirmed in clinics, fetal MRI will be blurred less often by movement.
In fetal MRI, head movement means slices are captured at different angles, and subtle brain anomalies can be missed. The E(3)-Pose model, presented at the ECCV conference, tracks head position and builds symmetry into the network's architecture itself rather than learning it from data alone. The lead author is MIT PhD student Ramya Muthukrishnan. The model was trained mostly on third-trimester fetuses; the authors want to extend it to more active second-trimester fetuses. MIT's article gives no quantitative metrics.
