US Army ran into trouble at Hawaii tests linking Anduril's Lattice command system with older communications

New digital command systems still fit poorly with old communications, and the US Army admits it.

At the Lightning Surge 5 exercise in September in Hawaii, the 25th Infantry Division connected Anduril's Lattice platform, part of the NGC2 command architecture, to existing communications equipment. Brig. Gen. Shane Taylor told Breaking Defense: "It wasn't seamless, and we learned a lot." Lockheed Martin vice president Chandra Marshall, whose company is the main integrator for this division, noted that passing data through Lattice is not yet at the level it should be. The jungle, lighter vehicles instead of Strykers and differences in radio configurations from the 4th Division in Colorado were also named as complications. The Army intends to roll out a baseline version in other I Corps divisions this fiscal year, but a continuing resolution could slow the pace.
