Waymo plans to grow its robotaxi fleet to 20,000 vehicles by the end of 2027

If the plan is right, Waymo's robotaxi fleet will grow fivefold in two years and become more visible on the streets.
According to Semafor, citing people familiar with the plans, Waymo now has about 4,000 vehicles, should have 8,000 by the end of 2026 and 20,000 by the end of 2027. The growth will be funded by $5 billion in borrowed money raised in October from private lenders without Alphabet guarantees. Waymo said it raised the money to grow in the US and abroad, and declined to comment on specific plans. Waymo currently operates in 15 US cities, and Semafor also mentions an expansion into Toronto.
