To tell people from deepfakes, video calls are starting to require an iris-based check.
World, which according to Fortune is co-founded by Sam Altman, unveiled an identity verification system: in Zoom, a verified participant gets a blue human badge. Financial firms adopting the system include Bain Capital and VanEck Funds; they will keep iris-scanning "orb" devices in their offices to enroll employees. Verification is available at three levels: "Proof of Attributes" (government documents), "Proof of Presence" (a selfie) and "Proof of Human" (the app, checked against the orb's biometric records).
