Companies now have an official template for showing that their quality control of SI meets EU law.
The standard EN 18286:2026, a quality management system for the purposes of the EU AI Act, developed by CEN and CENELEC, was published on October 19 by Commission decision 2026/2274. It sets out the requirements of Article 17 of the Act for providers of high-risk systems as a working quality management system across the whole lifecycle, and is designed to be combined with ISO/IEC 42001 and ISO 9001. Providers who apply the standard get a presumption of conformity with the Article 17 requirements; this is the only such standard on SI in EU law.
