Startup Elorian releases Glimpse, a model that reasons by repeatedly "looking" at an image

A model that checks a picture step by step rather than glancing at it once may read charts and video better — if the claimed results hold up.

Elorian of Palo Alto was founded by Andrew Dai, a former Google DeepMind researcher; the startup raised $55 million at a $300 million valuation (investors include Nvidia and Jeff Dean). While reasoning, Glimpse can crop a frame, extract frames from video and run code for measurements and comparisons. According to the company itself, the model beats GPT-6 Astra on reasoning about scientific charts and on captioning short videos. The API costs $0.60 per million input tokens and $3 per million output tokens; the chat is by waitlist.
