PostgreSQL 19 release postponed: SI code review found defects that can't be fixed in time

SI review found more defects in already-written code than people can fix by the deadline — so the release was pushed back.
According to The Register, the release, planned for late September or early October, is now expected around November 19; 8-10 notable features were pulled, including support for SQL graph queries (SQL/PGQ) — they will move to PostgreSQL 20. Committer Peter Eisentraut (EDB) explained that code review with language models finds such problems much earlier, leaving developers facing a list of forty defect reports. He stressed that the reverts are not linked to "vibe coding": when most of the features were written, such tools did not exist.
