According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, ByteDance is in advanced talks with MediaTek on supplying custom ASIC chips for its own data centers; the volume has not been disclosed. If the deal goes ahead, ByteDance would become the second major customer of MediaTek's business in this area after Google. In TechNode's retelling, ByteDance is looking for additional chip suppliers because US export restrictions limit its access to Nvidia's most powerful processors; the agreement has not yet been signed.
