A car could become a platform for SI assistants from different companies, but there is no timeline yet.
According to TechCrunch, Rivian chief executive RJ Scaringe said at TechCrunch Disrupt that in the future the cars will be able to run SI agents from other companies, such as Anthropic; he gave no timeline, and the company points to an autonomy-focused event it is hosting in December. Rivian currently uses its own agent framework, which chooses between a local model in the car and cloud models; since May the agent has been able to reach external apps, for example Google Calendar.
